Our Fantastic Assembly

Here are the highlights of another fabulous school assembly taken by the junior school. Thanks to Miss Vickers for all her organisation and to all the teachers and children who worked hard on their performances. A special thanks to Miss Kapene who taught the ukelele group. Feelings and Descriptions

MOTAT Stories

Our Train Station Visit

As we're learning about transport and trains we went for a visit with Rooms 2 and 3 to the Newmarket Train station. We saw an electric train as well as a couple of diesel trains. The electric train was so quiet. We met the friendly lady at the customer services booth. She helps people when they are not sure which trains to catch.

Ayane's Super Writing

Ayane loves writing so when we decided to write about clothes that we love to wear, she set to work and wrote a wonderful story about a beautiful dress.

My Beautiful Dress

Guess what! I have a blue dress and I have a white dress. My mum got it from Farmers.  I can wear it to parties.  I was excited when she got it because they have flowers and when I wear it I feel like I'm flying.  It was light blue colour and it was a summery dress.

Newmarket Rail Launch

We got to be on TV!  Our school had an assembly on Wednesday to celebrate a new Rail Safety resource for schools.  We got to sing the Rail Safe song and we made a train with our photo's on it. The Associate Transport Minister - Michael Woodhouse came and lots of other important people came too. Click on the link to have a look.

Yummy Hedgehogs

The Eagles group read a book called Hedgehog Fun. We thought the hedgehogs looked so delicious that we would make our own. So the Eagles read out the instructions and we got to work.

Charlie the Guinea Pig

Charlie the guinea pig came to visit this week and got the star treatment. Lots of cuddles and all the grass he could eat.

Counting to ten

The Children in Room 1 are certainly clever.  They can count to ten in different languages.  Here they are counting in Maori, Mandarin, Japanese and Cantonese.

The Lions reading group read The Photo Book and we decided to make our own version. All the Room 1 children helped with the voice over.

We were sad to say farewell to Evelyn on Friday.  We wish her all the best for her new role. Goodbye Evelyn, we will miss you.

Swimming

Room's 1, 2 and 3 had two weeks of swimming.  It was great to see the children's confidence and skill level grow with each session.  I asked Room 1 what they liked best about swimming.

Camp Movie

Junior camp was a great success with a large number of year 1 and 2 children staying the night at school.  A big thanks to all the staff and parents who helped to make our camp a wonderful experience and thanks to all the children for their enthusiasm and sound sleeping!

Newmarket Police Academy

We've had a great time this week with Constable Rob who has been teaching us about Safe Walking. On Thursday we even got to dress up as police officers and go for a ride in a police car. Constable Rob made sure we sat in booster seats and we were careful to put on our seatbelts. 
So relax people of Newmarket the newest recruits are on the job!

Transformation

At home I'm enjoying watching caterpillars chomping on our swan plants. At last our biggest caterpillar (fondly named Fatty by my son) is hanging in the J shape and I was fortunate to film the next stage of its life cycle. I've sped up the footage as it took a few minutes.
